Welcome to "Spirit Life in the Workplace" blog

This is a try out of the exciting 'blog' technology, as our small group in Atlanta attempts to incorporate 'blogging' as a means of communicating and sharing ideas, thoughts, experiences, meditations, writings, and our own reactions to others' posts. All this done in the 'spirit' of searching deeply for meaning within, of what others may put in front of us, under the theme of "what does spirit life in the workplace look like?".

At present we have commented that this search makes a distinction between religion and spirituality. The focus is clearly and assuredly on the latter.

The drive, thus, seems to be the search for "life" in today's workplace: what would it take to "put back life" there? What practices, what beliefs, what vision and/or mission statements - and purpose - will allow for that to happen? Today, we only know that the yearning is present.

Dana Dobson and Arline Berman have circulated an e-mail with information on "ASAW Spiritual Coaches Network". A short reference and contact information follows on this exciting organization and what they are doing.

"The Association for Spirit at Work is a non-profit association of people and organizations who are interested in the study and/or practice of spirituality in the workplace. The mission of the Association for Spirit at Work (ASAW) is to provide community, information, and education, for those who are integrating their work and their spirituality and for those who are called to support societal transformation through organizational development and change.

Special Interest Groups (SIGS) are just one of the many ways ASAW is effecting this change, and we thank you for your interest and participation."

Sincerely,

Dana Dobson & Arline Berman

In reference to the phrase..."for those that are integrating their work and their spirituality..." from Dana's post on ASAW, possibly alluding to the concept where the workplace would serve as the container that holds the parts and pieces that allow and foment that integration, a recent reading of a quote by Thomas Moore came to mind and seems to reinforce the thought: "It is the reconciliation of the many contraries that exist in your (one's) makeup and that, reconnected over time, may leave you free to be creative and vibrant.... When our ideas are grounded, our values lived out, and the highest selves at work in ordinary life, the holy marriage of the individual has been achieved, and that is worth celebrating".
Thus, the significant and critically important nature of the workplace as a container, a holder, an incubator, a cocoon, that envelopes, surrounds and comforts the individual in its internal - and interpersonal - developmental work.

How to search for blogs...interesting!

Came cross http://www.feedster.com/ which alows search across blogs. Did a "sitw" search (spirit in the workplace, spelled out, that is) and came across multiple postings that were interesting. Thought you'd want to know.
This allows for research and reading what others have to say on the subject in a focused format and within blogs.
